My father and I used to walk this river all over the Walpole/Norton area. Caught some monster trout there back in the day.
I remember we landed a giant out by where the Pier 1 is now. Saw another giant numerous times jumping out in the small pond off Summer Street.
Of course, it's not even a pond anymore. Someone, likely a homeowner looking to increase his property line, broke down a large portion of the wall/damn at the back, draining much of the pond.
Anyway, there are still trout there, but all small. Much of the river is just dead. =( |

Grew up fishing Traphole Brook in the 1950's & 60's. Caught hundreds of trout. Brook nearly dried up when they built I-95. Took a while but came strong. Used to stock in back in the day! |

It amazes me the places people catch good fish. This is a small feeder into the Neponset River that I didn't even know existed. Now I do. Good stuff. |
